Scott Reed reflects on the exceptional commitment Extension staff and faculty make to our communities and looks ahead to three 2018 initiatives.
Change will continue at a fast pace, but what won’t change is our passion for connecting people with information and expertise to help meet local challenges and help Oregon’s people, communities, ecosystems, and economies thrive.

I have decided to cut out processed sugar!
A good healthy choice, Jeff!
My plan to bring joy to my life in 2018 is to bring joy to others and help Extension provide memorable experiences that will not only impact and engage, but delight! 🙂
Sounds like you attended the keynote at the Extension Annual Conference, Victor!
I’m excited to continue to work in the amazing Extension Service family to serve every corner of our state and bring Outdoor School to every eligible student.
I’m working on remembering to be curious, every day.
Thanks to all who offered thoughtful reflections! Unlike Jeff, My sweet tooth will not let me abandon processed sugar-unless chocolate can be made to qualify! Among my personal resolutions is to live life more like my boxer, Sebastian…take things one day at a time, greet people with enthusiasm, and enjoy periodic naps in the sunshine.
I’m working on focus (breaking a bad multi-tasking habit) and on getting better at sharing “crappy first drafts” to combat perfectionism – a potential barrier of innovation!
