Santelli will deliver the keynote speech, titled \u201cTake Me Out to the Ball Game: Popular Music and National Past Time,\u201d at the annual Baseball and American Culture conference in Cooperstown, New York<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">June 10 \u2014 Santeilli will travel to the Nordic Music Conference, Trondheim, Norway, and deliver the keynote speech titled, \u201cSaving Our Soul: Music Museums in Contemporary Music Culture\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Associate Professor of English <strong>Rebecca Olson<\/strong> received an Open Education Champion Award at the Open Educational Resources Symposium in Eugene on May 17. The award recognizes Olson\u2019s \u201copen pedagogy\u201d: her students created the Open Oregon State textbook &#8220;Romeo and Juliet&#8221;(editingshakespeare.org).<\/p>\n<p>Assistant Professor of Philosophy<strong>\u00a0Stephanie Jenkins\u00a0<\/strong>was featured on<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/exmail.oregonstate.edu\/owa\/CLAthisWeek@oregonstate.edu\/redir.aspx?C=UQauww9Kh4fpwbLIie2h6pybNFLPd6_fb_RdOkWlGvkF5C91beDWCA..&amp;URL=https%3a%2f%2fwww.npr.org%2f2019%2f05%2f19%2f724747939%2facademics-gather-to-study-phish-man\"><strong>NPR\u2019s Weekend Edition Sunday<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0where she discussed the first-ever academic conference on the band Phish.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Natalie Dollar<\/strong>, associate professor of speech communication, OSU-Cascades; <strong>Nicholas Dahl<\/strong>, instructor of speech communication, OSU-Cascades; <strong>Alexa Tawzer<\/strong>, undergraduate (junior) liberal studies, OSU-Cascades; and <strong>Nathan Goldberg<\/strong>, undergraduate (senior) social science, OSU-Cascades presented \u201cImprovisational Communication Landscape: A Model for Understanding Deadheads and Phans, Jam Band Communities\u201d at the Phish Studies Conference, OSU, May 18, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Assistant Professor of New Media Communications and Speech Communication\u00a0<strong>Joshua Reeves<\/strong>\u00a0was a commentator at the University of Oregon\u2019s Critical Genealogies Workshop on May 10.\u00a0Reeves also lectured on police and surveillance technologies at the University of Toronto\u2019s Media Genealogy Workshop on May 18.<\/p>\n<p>Instructor of Music History\u00a0<strong>Kimary Fick\u00a0<\/strong>presented her paper \u201cKenner at the Keyboard: Character and Expression in the Keyboard Music of C.P.E. Bach\u201d at the fourth annual international conference \u201cHistorical Performance: Theory, Practice and Interdisciplinarity\u201d at the Historical Performance Institute of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana.
