Kaplan<\/strong>. Kaplan will discuss ethical consumerism, food justice, and the politics of disgust. Dr. Kaplan is Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at the University of North Texas. He is author of “Food Philosophy”\u00a0(2019), editor of the “Encyclopedia of Food” and “Agricultural Ethics”\u00a0(2014), and several articles on fake, processed, artificial, and junk foods. The Peace Tree will be dedicated to Oregon Hiroshima survivor Dr. Hideko Tamura Snider. The ceremony will be followed by refreshments and a facilitated discussion about nuclear weapons.\u00a0Thursday, April 11, 4 p.m. Asian & Pacific Cultural Center.<\/strong><\/p>\n Professor of English Evan Gottlieb<\/strong> has recently published the following book chapters:<\/p>\n Assistant Professor of New Media Communications and Speech Communication\u00a0Joshua Reeves\u00a0<\/b>was invited to give a lecture to the University of Nevada at Las Vegas\u2019s \u201cMediating Pathogens: Ad\/Dressing Civic Wounds\u201d Symposium on March 15.<\/p>\n Dr. Nicole von Germeten<\/strong>, director of the School of History, Philosophy, and Religion and professor of history, recorded 25 podcasts this term done by the undergraduate students in HST\/REL 353: Slavery in the Americas. The students also chose the artwork. The podcast is available to download on Itunes and Libsyn, entitled \u201cThe Historian.\u201d Link to\u00a0blog and podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n Philosophy Assistant Professor,\u00a0Dr. Stephanie Jenkins<\/strong>, was featured in an article in “Live for Live Music”<\/a>\u00a0about the first-ever\u00a0Phish Studies Conference<\/a>\u00a0that will take place May 17\u201319 at Oregon State University.<\/p>\n David Kerr<\/strong>, from the School of Psychological Science, co-authored a paper with colleagues Harold Bae<\/strong> and Andrew Koval<\/strong> in the College of Public Health and Human Sciences entitled \u201cPerceived prevalence of peer marijuana use: Changes among college students before and after Oregon recreational marijuana legalization.\u201d The work was funded in part by grants from the John C. Erkkila, M.D. Endowment for Health and Human Performance and the Medical Research Foundation of Oregon.
