Other artists included \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/exmail.oregonstate.edu\/owa\/CLAthisWeek@oregonstate.edu\/redir.aspx?C=CXgO6_QV7ZYByEdP0FShO-dIoMbCRbtHet8i3d0R0zlh0twvbUbWCA..&amp;URL=https%3a%2f%2fwww.facebook.com%2fmichael.workman1\">Michael Workman<\/a>, John Burtle, Elena Mann,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/exmail.oregonstate.edu\/owa\/CLAthisWeek@oregonstate.edu\/redir.aspx?C=7__Y0obnj7JngzYhXDpI_RjG-NbzW79iL7jdbDgk-Wlh0twvbUbWCA..&amp;URL=https%3a%2f%2fwww.facebook.com%2fjosesantiagoperez.artist\">Jose Santiago Perez<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/exmail.oregonstate.edu\/owa\/CLAthisWeek@oregonstate.edu\/redir.aspx?C=QhXxK_T1ty2SbpaTyxoecJTMJ2_h0FC2PJcAm_abwiVh0twvbUbWCA..&amp;URL=https%3a%2f%2fwww.facebook.com%2fUditaUpadhyaya\">Udita Upadhyaya<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/exmail.oregonstate.edu\/owa\/CLAthisWeek@oregonstate.edu\/redir.aspx?C=NhAIrx2TzaAwHMe336RUdDG-nKo5Pyeb8HECxMpjrxph0twvbUbWCA..&amp;URL=https%3a%2f%2fwww.facebook.com%2fzephyr.dance%2f\">Zephyr Dance<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Director of Piano Studies\u00a0<strong>Rachelle McCabe<\/strong>\u00a0and OSU emeritus professor\u00a0<strong>Kathleen Dean Moore\u00a0<\/strong>recently performed their program &#8220;A Call to Life: Variations on a Theme of Extinction&#8221; at notable locations across the country. \u00a0On November 1, the duo presented the work at the New York City Explorer&#8217;s Club in a benefit for the Safina Center.\u00a0On November 2 they performed at Clark University in Worcester,\u00a0Massachusetts, and on November 9 they presented the program at Black Mountain Circle in Point Reyes, California. &#8220;A Call to Life&#8221; addresses the crisis of global climate change through the music of Rachmaninoff and spoken word.<\/p>\n<p>Instructor of Guitar\u00a0<strong>Cameron O&#8217;Connor<\/strong>\u00a0performed on November 10 with Oregon Symphony violinist Ryan Lee in a duo recital at the Casa della Zisa concert series in Portland, Oregon. \u00a0O&#8217;Connor and Lee also performed the program in Corvallis on November 6 as the inaugural concert of the &#8220;Guitar en Route&#8221; series.<\/p>\n<p>Coordinator of Music Technology\u00a0<strong>Jason Fick\u00a0<\/strong>performed his composition &#8220;I&#8217;m the Expert&#8221; at the Electroacoustic Barndance Music Festival in Jacksonville, Florida on November 9. He also served as an invited panelist on November 10 in a session titled &#8220;Teaching Music Technology in Diverse Interdisciplinary Classrooms.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Instructor of Music\u00a0<strong>Amy Hansen\u00a0<\/strong>coordinated the National Association of Teachers of Singing Music Theater Festival \u00a0at Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Oregon. Over 140 students attended the adjudication, which culminated in an honors recital for the winning performers on November 11.<\/p>\n<p>Instructor of Art\u00a0<strong>Michael Boonstra<\/strong>\u00a0and Instructor of Art\u00a0<strong>Andrew Myers<\/strong>\u00a0attended, along with students, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coastarts.org\/events\/2018\/11\/coast-lines\/\">State of the Coast conference<\/a> in Coos Bay. They presented on their continuing efforts to integrate art and science through experiential learning, getting art students out of the classroom\/studio and engaging with people and places. This was the fifth year establishing an ever-growing liberal arts presence at this conference.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Myers, Boonstra<\/strong>\u00a0and Assistant Professor of Art\u00a0<strong>Kerry Skarbakka<\/strong>, have work in an exhibition with students at the Newport Visual Arts Center. The exhibition, &#8220;Coast|Lines&#8221;, is comprised of work from their summer term marine related courses . This exhibition is a partnership of the OSU College of Liberal Arts and the OSU Hatfield Marine Science Center. The exhibition is also a part of \u201cFor Freedoms\u201450 State Initiative,\u201d a non-partisan, nationwide campaign to use art as a means of inspiring civic participation in advance of the 2018 mid-term elections. It is a <a href=\"https:\/\/forfreedoms.org\/events\/oregon-state-university-to-host-creative-open-proj\/\">featured project<\/a> on the For Freedoms website.<\/p>\n<p>Instructor of Art\u00a0<strong>John Whitten<\/strong>\u00a0has contributed an original piece of art to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.disjecta.org\/portfolio-items\/auction18\/\">Disjecta Gallery\u2019s<\/a> 12<sup>th<\/sup>Annual Artist Auction, which takes place on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 5:30 \u2013 6:30 p.m. It is a graphite drawing mounted with high visibility reflective flagging.<\/p>\n<p>Instructor of Art\u00a0<strong>Anna Fidler<\/strong>\u00a0is the recipient of an Oregon Arts Commission Career Opportunity Grant in partnership with the Ford Family Foundation. The funds will support the production of a brochure of her artwork in conjunction with her upcoming exhibition at Johansson Projects in Oakland this winter.
