The adjudications are designed to provide developing singers constructive feedback regarding their performances and feature students from a various levels of voice study.<\/p>\n<p>Coordinator of Contemporary Music and Research <b>Dana Reason<\/b> presented two interactive workshops called &#8220;Acoustic Diaries: The Arts and Practice of Sounding Yourself&#8221; from October 25-27 at Beyond Design, a three day conference for creatives, designers and thinkers at ScaleHouse in Bend, Oregon.<\/p>\n<p>Instructor of Music\u00a0<b>Michael Gamble <\/b>recorded a track last weekend with GRAMMY Award winning musician Esperanza Spalding. Gamble will also perform at with Spalding at &#8220;An Evening of Esperanza: Building Hope in the Immigrant Community&#8221; on November 17 at Ecotrust in Portland, Oregon.<\/p>\n<p>Director of Bands <b>Chris Chapman <\/b>conducted the Portland Wind Symphony on October 29 at Lincoln Hall in Portland, Oregon. The program included works by Kimberly Archer, Giuseppe Verdi, Alfred Reed, and the \u00a0world premiere of a new composition by OSU Director of Athletic Bands <b>Olin Hannum<\/b>. Chapman serves as the artistic director and conductor of the PWS, an auditioned ensemble of performing musicians and music teachers from throughout the Portland-metro area.<\/p>\n<p><b>Dr. Eliza Barstow<\/b>,\u00a0instructor in religious studies and history, was quoted in &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.orangemedianetwork.com\/daily_barometer\/corvallis-jewish-community-resolute-in-spite-of-recent-pittsburgh-shooting\/article_0fee03a8-dd75-11e8-859a-0b8170221934.html\">The Daily Barometer<\/a>&#8221; about the rise of anti-Semitism.<\/p>\n<p><b>Dr. Koehlinger, Dr. Katz, Dr. Davison, Dr. Ritzheimer, Dr. Barstow,<\/b>\u00a0and<b>\u00a0Dr. Kopperman<\/b> were all featured in the &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gazettetimes.com\/news\/local\/panel-examines-anti-semitism-in-u-s\/article_890c0752-1683-5bef-84cd-e084b2ee378c.html\">Gazette Times<\/a>&#8221; for their participation in last week\u2019s flash panel discussion about the rise of anti-Semitic acts around the world. All the participating panelists are professors in the School of History, Philosophy and Religion with the exception of Dr. Davison who is professor of Literature in the School of Writing, Literature and Film.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Emerita <strong>Charlotte Headrick<\/strong>, presented a keynote speech, \u201cMy Love Affair with Irish Theatre\u201d to the annual meeting of the American Conference for Irish Studies, Western Region, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming hosted by the University of Wyoming in October, 2018.\u00a0Additionally, she staged a reading of Irish dramatist Lynda Radley\u2019s &#8220;The Interference&#8221; at Eena Haws, the Native American Longhouse, on October 25 for Sexual Assault Awareness Month.\u00a0 The play deals with the issue of sexual assault on campus. <strong>Kryn Freehling-Burton<\/strong> acted as producer.<\/p>\n<div>\n<h2>Recurring Events<\/h2>\n<p><strong>OSU International Film Festival<\/strong> <span class=\"m_-5043966126578199209s1\">\u2014 <\/span><span class=\"m_-5043966126578199209s1\">J<\/span>oin us in celebrating the Oregon State University International Film Festival, organized and hosted by the School of Language, Culture, and Society in partnership with the School of Writing, Literature, and Film.
