Ben &amp; Jerry\u2019s mascot, Pearl the Cow, will be in attendance along with Benny Beaver. Congratulations graduates! <\/span><\/p>\n<h2>News<\/h2>\n<p>CLA This Week will continue to be\u00a0published throughout the\u00a0summer on a semi-regular basis. Submissions that are not time-sensitive will be batched together and published when a substantial number\u00a0have been sent.<\/p>\n<h2>Awards and Honors<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Art professor <strong>Julie Green<\/strong> was named a 2017 Hallie Ford Fell in the Visual Arts. Green is one of five Oregon visual artists recognized for demonstrated excellence of their work and potential for significant advancement in their practices of art. Green will receive a $25,000 unrestricted award and will join 25 of her peers, including Stephen Hayes, selected over the last seven years as Hallie Ford Fellows.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Mary Jo Nye<\/b>, SHPR, has won the 2017 Abraham Pais Prize for the History of Physics. The Pais Prize is given annually by the American Physical Society (APS), with the American Institute of Physics, to recognize outstanding scholarly achievements in the history of physics. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and a Member of the International Academy of the History of Science.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Current Research, Publications and Creative Activity<span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Kathleen Bogart<\/strong> and co-PI Sam Logan in kinesology were awarded an Erkkila Endowment for Health and Human Performance grant for their project: Attitudes Predicting Access to Self-Directed Mobility for Children with Disabilities.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Photographer<b> Kerry Skarbakka <\/b>has work in an exhibition titled \u201cArt &amp; Oppression,\u201d June 10 \u2013 September 15 at the Marion Center for Photographic Arts at the Santa Fe University of Art &amp; Design, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The curated photographs record victims of civil war in Sri Lanka, Guatemalan refugees in Mexico, uranium mining in western New Mexico, while others consider the suppression of women, police violence, and surveillance. <span class=\"s2\"><a href=\"http:\/\/visitcenter.org\">http:\/\/visitcenter.org<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s1\">Skarbakka<b> <\/b>also has a collaborative work with artists Clay Lohmann<b>, Julie Green<\/b> and <b>Anna Fidler<\/b> at the Corvallis Art Center, \u00a0titled \u201cLog Cabin Medley.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Photo instructor <strong>Lorenzo Triburgo&#8217;s<\/strong> &#8220;Policing Gender&#8221; will be on view in New York City at BGSQD from June 8 through September 10.
