A Celebration of Life honoring Marcus Borg — Join us for a community gathering to remember and honor Dr. Borg’s life and work. For 28 years, Borg was a professor of religion and culture at Oregon State University as well as a scholar and best-selling author who popularized a liberal intellectual approach to Christianity. His work inspired OSU alumnus Al Hundere to create the Hundere Endowment for Religion and Culture at OSU, of which Borg was the inaugural chair. Dr. Borg passed away on January 21. 3:30 p.m. in the Memorial UnionHorizon Room.

Current Research, Publications and Creative Activity

Kristin Griffin of the School of Writing, Literature and Film recently published an essay about Irish cooking in Paste Magazine and a short story about surfcasting for striped bass in Bodega Magazine.

Allison L. Hurst of the School of Public Policy (Sociology Program) has authored a chapter included in the recently published book edited by Elizabeth M. Lee and Chaise LaDousa, College Students’ Experiences of Power and Marginality: Sharing Spaces and Negotiating Difference (Routledge).  Deborah Warnock of the University of Louisville co-authored the chapter, whose title is “Les Miraculés: Constructed Narratives of Self and Mobility from Working-Class Students at an Elite College.”
