Orange Media has been and will continue utilizing cargo trikes for distribution in order to demonstrate our integrity and commitment to sustainability in line with SSI\u2019s Climate Neutral 2025 initiative. Along with the implementation of trike delivery, The Daily Barometer conducted<\/p>\n<p>twice a term delivery audits and adjusted its distribution accordingly.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/ecologue\/files\/2016\/06\/ecologue.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9263 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/ecologue\/files\/2016\/06\/ecologue-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"ecologue\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/2114\/files\/2016\/06\/ecologue-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/2114\/files\/2016\/06\/ecologue-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/2114\/files\/2016\/06\/ecologue.jpg 806w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Following our first audit Fall Term, <strong>we reduced the press run by 2,000 papers per day<\/strong>. We are striving to respond to the community at large, students, faculty, staff and community members, who have asked <strong>how we can be sustainable with a print medium<\/strong>. We strive to provide a news medium for the campus while also watching our carbon footprint. Delivering on trikes aligns holistically with social dimensions of sustainability since <strong>the trikes provide a healthy alternative to driving<\/strong>. The use of trikes allows any student to hold the delivery job regardless of whether they own their own vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>The Sustainability Project Grant has increased collaborative efforts to building a sustainable future, sparking questions and promoting interest in sustainable alternatives across the greater campus community from students and faculty, as well as the rest of Beaver Nation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Orange Media Network received a Project Grant from the Student Sustainability Initiative (SSI) in 2015-16 to purchase two cargo trikes to deliver The Daily Barometer in a more sustainable way.
