OSU’s First Annual Sustainability Writing Contest:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“THE GREAT WORK \u2014 Re-imagining Humanity as the Planet Changes”<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

The Spring Creek Project and the Student Sustainability Initiative are interested in hearing <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>your<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span> stories and ideas about ways to move forward with issues of sustainability and conservation in our modern-day society.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Who: <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>All enrolled students at Oregon State University.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Why:<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> Up to eight winning entries will receive $100 prizes, publication in an insert in The Daily Barometer to be distributed to the OSU community, and a chance to help shape the future.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

When: <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> Deadline for submissions is April 8, 2011<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>(see How to Submit below).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Contest Topic:<\/strong> What are the stories that will empower us to create a truly sustainable culture? We need greener technology, but just as importantly we need compelling stories, new ways to imagine and express our values about what a truly sustainable and equitable culture will look like and feel like. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Guidelines: <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We encourage brevity and concision. Limit your submission to:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

800 words for prose<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

20 lines for poetry <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Do not include any visual images.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

How to Submit: <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

1. One entry per person.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2. Include your name, e-mail address, and phone number on the first page of your submission.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

3. Attach as a Word doc, or paste your submission into the body of your email.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

4. Put your last name and <\/span>“Sustainability Writing Contest”<\/span><\/span> in the subject line.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

5. Submit via email to spring.creek@oregonstate.edu<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
