Throughout the term, we&#8217;ll be outreaching to students, staff, and faculty to expand this program.  Here&#8217;s what you can do, as staff\/faculty or a student:<\/p>\n<h3>Staff &amp; Faculty<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/businessservices\/files\/2013\/01\/Compost_MG_1889-small.jpg\"><span style=\"color: #008080\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2685 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/businessservices\/files\/2013\/01\/Compost_MG_1889-small-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"162\" height=\"108\" \/><\/span><\/a>1. Sign-up for composting in your building<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>There are two main options for departmental composting:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Join the <strong><a title=\"Compost Collection Route Option\" href=\"http:\/\/recycle.oregonstate.edu\/services\/deptcompost#collection\" target=\"_blank\">collection route<\/a><\/strong>, in which building occupants are responsible for dumping their organic waste into an outdoor compost cart that we service.<\/li>\n<li>Receive and maintain a <strong><a title=\"Worm Bin Compost Option\" href=\"http:\/\/recycle.oregonstate.edu\/services\/deptcompost#worms\" target=\"_blank\">worm bin<\/a><\/strong>, provided to people who want to manage their own compost and keep the finished product.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Visit our <a title=\"Department Composting Page\" href=\"http:\/\/recycle.oregonstate.edu\/services\/deptcompost\" target=\"_blank\">department composting page <\/a>for more information about the program.  To sign-up for composting in your department, fill out our online <a title=\"Department Composting Request Form\" href=\"http:\/\/recycle.oregonstate.edu\/services\/deptcompost\/dept-compost-request\" target=\"_blank\">department compost request form<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080\"><strong>2. Attend the &#8220;How to Compost in Your Department&#8221; Luncheon<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Learn more about the program by attending this January 23rd luncheon.  Registration is required in order to receive a free lunch; <a title=\"Luncheon registration form\" href=\"http:\/\/tiny.cc\/complunch\" target=\"_blank\">register here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080\"><strong>3. Reach out to other departments<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Are there other departments in your building who have a separate break room?  They might be interested in composting as well.  We encourage you to reach out to staff and faculty members that you know, in your building and elsewhere on campus.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080\"><strong>4. Become a Sustainability Advocate<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;d like to encourage composting and sustainability campus-wide, you can join the <a title=\"Sustainability Advocates Info Page\" href=\"http:\/\/oregonstate.edu\/sustainability\/osu-sustainability-advocates\" target=\"_blank\">Sustainability Advocates program<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Students<\/h3>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #008080\">1. Talk to your academic department<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Is your academic department composting?  You can check our list of current <a title=\"Department Compost List\" href=\"http:\/\/recycle.oregonstate.edu\/services\/deptcompostfaq#Department-List\" target=\"_blank\">department composting participants<\/a>.  Faculty and staff are often receptive to students&#8217; suggestions, so speak up!<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #008080\">2. Talk to staff<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Do you work on campus?  You can encourage your department to start composting (see #1 under Staff &amp; Faculty for how).<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #008080\">3. Live in Cauthorn, Halsell, West or Wilson Hall?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you live in one of the four residence halls listed above, you can participate in the new compost pilot by signing up with your Eco-Rep! If you don&#8217;t know who he\/she is, talk to your RD.
