{"id":2711,"date":"2012-11-07T10:00:58","date_gmt":"2012-11-07T17:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/oregonstate.edu\/sustainability\/blog\/?p=2711"},"modified":"2012-11-07T10:00:58","modified_gmt":"2012-11-07T17:00:58","slug":"welcome-the-eco-reps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.blogs.oregonstate.edu\/ecologue\/2012\/11\/07\/welcome-the-eco-reps\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome the Eco-Reps!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This year the OSU Sustainability Office, <a href=\"http:\/\/recycle.oregonstate.edu\/\">Campus Recycling<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/oregonstate.edu\/uhds\/\">UHDS<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/oregonstate.edu\/dept\/rha\/\">RHA<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/oregonstate.edu\/sli\/\">Student Leadership<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/oregonstate.edu\/ssi\/\">SSI<\/a> came together to create the Eco-Representative Pilot Program for school year 2012\/2013 in select resident halls.\u00a0 This program was developed with the goal of hiring resident representatives in select resident halls to represent OSU Campus Sustainability.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2712    aligncenter\" title=\"Final 11 x 17 cropped copy\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/ecologue\/files\/2012\/11\/Final-11-x-17-cropped-copy-300x268.png\" alt=\"Final 11 x 17 cropped copy\" width=\"300\" height=\"268\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Eco-Reps are responsible for advancing and institutionalizing a culture of sustainability in the residence halls in which they live. This includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>educating residents about sustainable lifestyles and resources<\/li>\n<li>assisting with marketing and outreach efforts for sustainability programs<\/li>\n<li>planning and executing sustainability-focused events for events that are already established at OSU <em>(like Drive-Less-Connect, Energy Civil, Earth Week, Building Energy Challenge, Campus Move-Out, etc.)<\/em> as well as self-created events (keep an eye out for these).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Eco-Reps are a part of the OSU Sustainability Office, but work with multiple departments and organizations on campus to meet sustainability goals.<\/p>\n<p>This fall, three Eco-Reps were chosen to be a part of this pilot program.\u00a0 <strong>Jesse Pettibone<\/strong> was chosen from West Hall, <strong>Amber Newell<\/strong> was chosen from Wilson Hall and <strong>Jan\u201dUli\u201d Bartels<\/strong> was chosen from Cauthorn Hall.\u00a0 If you are a resident in one of these halls, please take some time to drop in on your Eco-Rep to learn more about how you can get involved in campus sustainability.\u00a0 You can also volunteer with your Eco-Rep to support programs and project.\u00a0 If you are interested in being an Eco-Rep, make sure to apply next fall!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This year the OSU Sustainability Office, Campus Recycling, UHDS, RHA, Student Leadership and SSI came together to create the Eco-Representative Pilot Program for school year 2012\/2013 in select resident halls.\u00a0 This program was developed with the goal of hiring resident representatives in select resident halls to represent OSU Campus Sustainability.
