{"id":2533,"date":"2012-09-05T13:46:16","date_gmt":"2012-09-05T20:46:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/oregonstate.edu\/sustainability\/blog\/?p=2533"},"modified":"2012-09-05T13:46:16","modified_gmt":"2012-09-05T20:46:16","slug":"neighborhood-sustainability-steward-training","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.blogs.oregonstate.edu\/ecologue\/2012\/09\/05\/neighborhood-sustainability-steward-training\/","title":{"rendered":"Neighborhood Sustainability Steward Training"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>2012 Neighborhood Sustainability Steward Training<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Would you like to increase your knowledge of energy saving and sustainable living practices at home?\u00a0 Do you like to meet people, to be part of a team, and to give back to your community?\u00a0 OSU Extension Service Benton County has a volunteer program for you, the <em>Neighborhood Sustainability Steward Program<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Join our team! \u00a0Save money and resources while helping to reduce our community\u2019s carbon footprint.\u00a0 Help be part of a community solution! \u00a0To become a Neighborhood Sustainability Steward volunteer you need to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Attend the eight-week training sessions, topics included:\n<ul>\n<li>Climate change science<\/li>\n<li>Household energy and emission reductions<\/li>\n<li>Food systems and choices<\/li>\n<li>Sustainable landscapes<\/li>\n<li>Water savings and issues<\/li>\n<li>Waste reduction and recycling<\/li>\n<li>Transportation choices and options<\/li>\n<li>The values, ethics, and behavior surrounding lifestyle change<\/li>\n<li>Community Volunteer skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Give back to your community by volunteering at least 30 hours of education outreach over the following year. \u00a0Share what you learn by volunteering in teams: tabling at events, working with students, speaking to groups, partnering with other sustainable oriented organizations on energy saving projects, writing articles, and the possibilities go on.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Course starts:<\/strong> October 4, 2012 and runs for 8 consecutive Thursdays (break for Thanksgiving),\u00a0plus 2 Saturday day-time field days scheduled for Oct. 27<sup>th<\/sup> &amp; Nov. 10<sup>th<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time: <\/strong> 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location:<\/strong> Sunset Meeting Room, Benton County Sunset Building 4077 SW Research Way, Corvallis<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cost:<\/strong> $50.00 covers all your materials, or bring a friend, share materials, and split the cost<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-2535\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/ecologue\/files\/2012\/09\/P90100591-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Information booth at the Farmer's Market\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Register by September 28, 2012<\/strong>.
