Earth Week is halfway done but 14 events still remain, giving you plenty of opportunities to learn about sustainability at OSU and get involved!
On Saturday, Campus Recycling had the opportunity to interact with the off campus community at the annual EarthFaire, organized by the Corvallis Environmental Center, distributing Earth Week info and inviting citizens to participate in OSU’s activities.
On Sunday, about 50 Greeks came out for a Greek row cleanup, removing litter and beatifying the areas in which they live.
On Monday, OSU Career Services offered workshops for those interested in green careers and ASOSU organized a “carrotmob” of a local business – the Brew Station has agreed to apply 15% of their revenue form the day to greening their operations. Campus Recycling sponsored an event about global water issues, at which the OSU chapter of Engineers Without Borders spoke about their projects in El Salvador and international students from Kenya and Azerbaijan spoke about water challenges in their home countries.
On Tuesday, hundreds came out to enjoy the annual Earth Week Community Fair in the Memorial Union Quad, where 60 vendors provided activities, info and involvement opportunities in sustainability, both on and off campus.
