Eco-reps are an Oregon State program that are responsible for encouraging a culture of sustainability in the residence halls in which they live. They educate residents about sustainable lifestyles and resources, assist with marketing and outreach, and plan and execute sustainability-focused events. They also maintain their hall’s composting program. Last year, the Eco-Reps reached people an amazing 9,785 times and composted over 1,741 lbs. of material! In this series, we will spotlight each Eco Rep to help you learn more about who they are and what they do.

Hometown: Miami, Oklahoma
Major/Future Plans: Kennedy is doubling majoring in Merchandising management and Sustainability and plans to make the fashion industry more sustainable
Previous involvement/interest in sustainability: Kennedy has been extremely interested in sustainability and environmental science since junior year of high school, and is also a member of the environmental sciences club at OSU
Favorite thing about being an EcoRep: Spreading knowledge about how to be more eco-friendly and conscious of how your actions affect the environment
Goals for the coming year: Kennedy’s goals for the upcoming year are to study abroad and to continue to learn about and teach about sustainability
Interests in continuing involvement in sustainability on campus and how so: Maintaining her membership in the environmental science club and join other similar clubs and attend events
Fun fact: Kennedy loves yoga and plans on getting her yoga instructor certification
