Happy New Year, everyone. I’ve been getting some questions about what OSU is doing for the National Teach-In event coming up in February. In an effort to be more efficient and avoid suffering from event overload (as well as speaker and audience competition), Linn Benton Community College and OSU are working cooperatively on two events this winter and spring.
LBCC will take the lead on the National Teach-In while Oregon State will coordinate Focus the Nation on April 18. LBCC will host several events throughout the day, inlcuding a panel of elected officials, and a student-administrator dialogue to discuss visions for global warming solutions. The full LBCC preliminary announcement is below, and more details will be released soon.
As always, please feel free to contact me with questions, or in this case, Stefan Seiter at LBCC.
The LBCC National Teach-In Announcement (updated Jan.23):
On February 5th, Linn Benton Community College is participating in the “National Teach-in on Global Warming Solutions”, a nationwide dialogue between students, community members, and key decision makers around concrete policy recommendations. The webcast “Solutions for the First 100 Days” will be shown from 10:00-10:45. Then, a panel of city, state and federal political leaders will convene in the LBCC Forum from 11:00 to 12:45. The officials will discuss their current efforts to deal with global warming, their targets for the future and their plans to achieve these targets. From 1:00 to 3:00 there will be a discussion (venues to be announced) for students from LBCC and OSU to discuss their vision for global warming solutions and a green curriculum for the two institutions. Both events will provide time for audience questions and participation. For more information, contact Stefan Seiter at 541-917-4765 or stefan.seiter@linnbenton.edu.
