An article in\u00a0<em>The New Republic<\/em>once posed the question of whether President Trump might be &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/newrepublic.com\/article\/134875\/white-trash-theory-donald-trump\">a white trash icon.<\/a>&#8221; For some reason, the term manages to come across as\u00a0<em>less\u00a0<\/em>offensive than most other racial slurs.<\/p>\n<p>Yet &#8220;white trash&#8221; could be called the Swiss army knife of insults.
