The Southern Poverty Law Center has recorded more than 700 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.splcenter.org\/hatewatch\/2016\/11\/18\/update-incidents-hateful-harassment-election-day-now-number-701\">incidents<\/a> of hate or violence against minorities, 16 percent of them on college campuses, even though colleges are perceived as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chronicle.com\/article\/Yes-You-re-Right-Colleges\/238400\">liberal oases.<\/a> Many of the episodes, on campuses and off, involved references to President-elect Donald J. Trump. Here\u2019s the latest:<\/p>\n<h3>November 22, 2016<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Arizona State University<\/strong> has joined a string of colleges that have been plastered with racist or threatening fliers. A university official told <a href=\"http:\/\/www.azcentral.com\/story\/news\/local\/tempe\/2016\/11\/18\/save-white-race-fliers-surface-asu-tempe-campus\/94049862\/\"><em>The Arizona Republic<\/em><\/a>he had seen one poster that said, \u201cThe age of white guilt is over!\u201d He called it \u201csaddening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The university said in a statement that student safety is a priority and that \u201cASU is a place where open debate can thrive and honest disagreements can be explored, but not when hateful rhetoric is used.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Four <strong>University of Kansas<\/strong> cheerleaders were <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chronicle.com\/blogs\/ticker\/u-of-kansas-cheerleader-suspended-from-squad-over-kkk-snapchat\/115675\">suspended from their squad<\/a> after a photo captioned \u201cKKK go trump\u201d was posted to a female cheerleader\u2019s Snapchat account, according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.ljworld.com\/news\/2016\/nov\/22\/ku-cheerleader-suspended-over-kkk-snapchat-pic\/\"><em>Lawrence Journal-World.<\/em><\/a> The other three cheerleaders, who are men, were pictured in the offending Snapchat wearing sweaters with the letter \u201cK\u201d for Kansas on the front.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chronicle.com\/blogs\/ticker\/heres-a-rundown-of-the-latest-campus-climate-incidents-since-trumps-election\/115553\">Read the entire post here.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Organizations that track hate crimes have seen a rise in reports since the presidential election.
