Some parts of the decision in the case, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/supct\/cert\/11-345\" target=\"_blank\">Fisher v. University of Texas at Austin<\/a>, related to features unique to that university.<\/p>\n<p>But other parts of the case will likely apply to admissions and financial aid policies in most of American higher education.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/15pdf\/14-981_4g15.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">The court ruled<\/a> that the primary reason that the plaintiff in the case was denied admission to the university was not its consideration of race in admissions, but its \u201c10\u00a0percent plan,\u201d in which the top 10\u00a0percent of high school graduates are admitted to the public college or university of their choice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.insidehighered.com\/news\/2016\/06\/24\/supreme-court-upholds-consideration-race-admissions\">Read the entire post here. <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WASHINGTON &#8212; The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the University of Texas at Austin\u2019s consideration of race and ethnicity in college admissions.
