Join us for the 9th Annual Nonprofit Opportunities Fair! Meet representatives from over 50 local and national nonprofit and government organizations representing a wide variety of fields who are seeking OSU volunteers, interns, and employees. Network with people who share your interests and passions and learn more about the many opportunities available in the nonprofit and public service fields.

Breakout sessions:

10:00AM – 11:00AM International Service in MU 208
Explore international nonprofit service and internships opportunities both during and after college.

11:00AM – 12:00PM Marketing Your Service Experience in MU 206
Meet a panel of nonprofit professionals who will share tips and strategies on marketing your service and volunteer experience to potential employers and answer your questions about the nonprofit field. This panel will include representatives from six nonprofit agencies at entry level and senior level positions.

12:00PM – 1:00PM Pursuing a Nonprofit Career in MU 208
Gain insight into the nonprofit industry. This session will include basics about nonprofit organizations and how to be best prepared for pursing a nonprofit career.

Scholarship Season is Here

The American Association on Health & Disability (AAHD) has posted their scholarship information for 2014-2015.

Applications must be submitted by November 15, 2014 in order to qualify. Visit their website for more information. Other scholarship sponsors are beginning to post information and applications, so now is the time to start applying. Visit the DAS scholarship page for some ideas

Summer internship applications are also opening up – if you’re interested in getting an internship this summer, it’s time to start looking!

Do you need a summer internship? Would you like the chance to work in our nation’s capital? Check out the opportunities offered through the Greater Washington Internship Coalition. “Participating in an internship is a great way to learn new skills and develop your personal and professional interests. You can expand your network and make connections while gaining valuable work experience. Please consider exploring the Greater Washington Internship Coalition, a group of internship programs based in the greater Washington, DC area that looks to include young people with disabilities. The Coalition is a one-stop opportunity for college students with disabilities and emerging professionals with disabilities to seek and receive information on unique internship programs for them!

“Some of these internship programs are specifically for people with disabilities, while others are looking to include more students with disabilities in their programs. Most programs are based in Washington, DC, though some are nationwide, and many (though not all) provide a stipend, pay, or even housing so that it is easier for all students to come to DC for a semester or the summer. You can explore the webpage here: www.aapd.com/internshipcoalition, and follow the links to each organization’s webpage to find out more the internship requirements and to apply. Questions about specific internship programs should be directed to each organization.

“The nation’s Capital is a great place to do an internship. Washington, DC is home to thousands of awesome opportunities for you to explore as you launch your career. You can intern at federal agencies, on the Capitol Hill, at the White House, in the private or nonprofit sector, and even at a theater company! There are internships available for students with all types of interests and educational backgrounds, from STEM fields, to international development, to political science, to arts management. Entry Point!

Entry Point!, a division of American Association for the Advancement of Science, will be holding interviews on Tuesday, January 29th, 2012, for PAID Summer Internships in 2013.

Companies include NASA, IBM, Merck, Dow Chemical, Lockheed Martin, Ball Aerospace, L’Oreal, and university science laboratories. Sign up now for an interview if you meet the following four requirements (must meet all requirements to participate):

  1. Are a full-time DAS undergraduate or graduate student majoring in science, engineering, computer science, math, accounting or finance field
  2. Have at least one term of school remaining after the internship
  3. Have a 3.0 GPA or higher
  4. Are a U.S. citizen (or you have a right-to-work permit)

This opportunity is ONLY available to students with disabilities! Hurry, interview spaces are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP)

The Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) will be holding on-campus interviews Monday, November 5th, 2012, for PAID Summer Jobs in 2013. Many positions lead to permanent employment upon graduation. Open to all majors and levels, freshmen through graduates!

The Workforce Recruitment Program for College Students with Disabilities (WRP) is a recruitment and referral program that connects public and private sector employers nationwide with highly motivated postsecondary students and recent graduates with disabilities who are eager to prove their abilities in the workplace through summer or permanent jobs. Employers include agencies such as Departments of Defense, Labor, Agriculture, Commerce, Homeland Security, Health and Human Services, Interior, State, Treasury, and Veterans Affairs; the Social Security Administration; the National Aeronautics and Space Administration; the Nuclear Regulatory Commission; the Environmental Protection Agency; the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation; the Farm Credit Administration, and the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Many (but not all) positions are outside of Oregon.

Sign up now for an interview if you meet the following requirements:

  1. have a disability, and
  2. are a U.S. citizen, and
  3. are enrolled full-time at OSU (unless reduced course load is authorized as a disability-related accommodation) OR you graduated since Fall 2011.
