Once again students, faculty, and staff at the OSU College of Veterinary Medicine opened their hearts and wallets to those in need. The annual One Health One World fundraiser at CVM held breakfast sales, cat toy sales, and a penny drive competition between the faculty and each class at CVM. The penny drive alone raised $939.89 for the Pine Ridge and Warm Springs Indian Reservations. You can see the table buckling under the weight of all that generosity ( left).
The penny drive competition was very close with the class of 2014 taking first place. This was despite a last minute strategic move by the class of 2013 who added 100 penny rolls in 2 large bags.
The goal of the annual fundraiser is to highlight an area of the world in need, and understand the intertwined plight of the humans and animals that live there. At Pine Ridge, donations will be put towards the Rural Veterinary Experience, Teaching and Service Program (RVETS) and the Oglala Sioux Tribe Community Health Program. At Warm Springs, the organizations supported are the OSU RVP Warm Springs Equine Castration Program and the Warm Springs Health and Wellness Center.
Kudos to the student organizations who worked hard organizing the events: SCAVMA, AAFP, Shelter Medicine, VBMA, AAEP, ZWE and Class of 2014 and 2015.
