On a gorgeous fall day in Corvallis, 56 students gathered on the lawn in front of Magruder Hall to participate in leadership activities as part of a three-day, new student orientation. To the casual observer, some the outdoor lessons might have looked like a lot of fun but they had a serious purpose: teaching students to be role models, team players, and leaders in their profession. In fact, the full day of leadership training was intense; as one student described it, “We laughed, we cried, we learned a lot.”
