Post-graduation plans

May 24th, 2011

The Class of 2011 will finish their academic requirements in June. With this and the next issue of the Vet Gazette, graduating seniors will reveal their future plans. We wish them the best and congratulate them for their accomplishments!

Ryan Scholz: I will be the first vet student to participate in the DVM/MPH program through OSU. I will be doing this next year while hopefully working in a mixed practice in Mill City (this is not for sure yet though).

Diana Care: After graduation I am riding my bicycle across the country, after which I will pursue a Masters of Public Health through the University of Minnesota.

Sonja Lapinski: Small animal rotating internship at Southern Arizona Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Clinic in Tucson, Ariz.

Benjamin Wustenberg: I will be employed by Veterinary Services of Oregon which is a food animal practice in Newberg, Ore.

Julie Ter Beest: I’ll be moving to Mesa, Ariz., where I’ll be starting a small animal rotating internship at VCA Animal Referral and Emergency Center of Arizona. I will be applying for zoo internships and residencies in the years following.

Mara Supan: Work in private practice either mixed or small animal (don’t know details yet).

Courtney Smith: Small animal rotating internship at Veterinary Specialty Hospital in San Diego, Calif.

Kristina Welsh: I have accepted a mixed animal position at Town and Country Animal Clinic in Brooking, Ore. I am looking forward to going home and serving my ever-supportive coastal community. In addition to working, I plan on filling my salmon tags this summer and regaining my fabulous tan! I would like to thank my amazing parents and grandparents for their boundless love and support; I could not have done this without them.

Jennifer Grossman: Small animal rotating internship at the Animal Hospital of Pittsford Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Service in Rochester, N.Y. I am looking forward to living near the East Coast side of the family and experiencing a different part of country.

Christina Lee: Small animal rotating internship at Michigan Veterinary Specialists in Southfield, Mich.

Chris Zetye: Private practice, small animals, Scottsdale, Ariz.

Amy Sachs: I will be starting a job with Osburn Veterinary Clinic in Florence, Ore. It is a mixed animal practice (predominantly small animal).

April Grothe: Traveling to Disney World, Boston, and the Galapagos Islands.

Katherine Barnes: I will be starting a rotating small animal internship at Cornell University.

Jocelyn Riehl: I will be starting a one-year Small Animal Rotating Internship at the University of Illinois. At this time, my eventual career goals include a residency in either Small Animal Internal Medicine or Oncology. I will begin my road-trip to Champaign-Urbana the morning after graduation!

Leticia Hillebrand: Internship in Southern California at an equine clinic – Humphrey, Giacopuzzi and Associates Equine Hospital.

Brian Zulauf: I am moving to Denver, Colo., for a rotating small animal internship.

Jenny Evans: Following graduation, I’ll be completing a one-year rotating small animal internship at West Vet in Boise, Idaho.

Elizabeth Pollak: Internship at Kendall Road Equine Hospital, outside of Chicago, Ill.

Kristy Headings: After graduation I will be starting a small animal rotating internship at California Veterinary Specialists in Carlsbad, Calif. I look forward to starting a new adventure, and of course, living near warm, sunny beaches!
