At the SAVMA Symposium, Pfizer Animal Health announced the winners of Pfizer Animal Health Veterinary Student Scholars for 2011. “Pfizer Animal Health is very pleased to be able to financially reward dedicated veterinary students who are already making outstanding contributions to the veterinary profession and to the overall well-being and medical care of animals,” stated Dr. J. Michael McFarland, group director of Pfizer Animal Health, and Michael W. Cathey, exceutive director of American Veterinary Medical Foundation, in a letter to Dean Cyril Clarke. The following students, Sadie Curry, Brandon Heikes and Shanna Rietmann of the class of 2013; and Adam Ballard, Jessica Lam and Samuel Tepper of the class of 2012 each received $2,500. Criteria for second- and third-year students included academic excellence, leadership, diversity and sustainability of the veterinary profession as well as membership in the SAVMA.
