Coming into my first week of Gender and Technology, I had no idea what to expect. I was a little overwhelmed as I started reading the introduction, but once I actually began the steps things progressed very smoothly.
Blogging
I have never considered creating a blog. I love writing, yet usually tend to shy away from advanced technological requirements, so I was a little nervous when I read the instructions…but excited at the idea!
The blog set-up itself has gone fairly well. However, this is assuming I understood all the the instructions and executed them properly. I suppose I will soon find out!
Email Signature
Email signatures have always seemed very professional to me, yet I never considered myself at a level where I could utilize one. Yet, I am very glad I was given a reason to to so, seeing as it will not only make communication easier with my teachers and classmates, but future employers as well.
Text – to – Speak
In my first couple of days in this class I have already learned so much! I had no idea I could set up my computer to read to me, or considered how it could aid my studies. Because I am a highly visual learner, I do not think that I will use this tool frequently. Furthermore, though I thought it might be beneficial to read along with the program, it almost seemed to distract me more than benefit me. However, I am sure it is very helpful to some people and a great tool/option!
