Central Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS) Child Welfare and OSU-Cascades are collaborating strategically to provide OSU-Cascades students with a variety of real-world and experiential learning opportunities to help form an employment pipeline to DHS Child Welfare. Key members from these organizations are partnering to strengthen the relationship between these organizations, improve various linkages with courses, instructors, and student clubs, and provide diverse volunteer and internship opportunities for the OSU-Cascades students. In this Pilot Project, 2CW researchers will examine best practices and provide that information to key members at OSU-Cascades and DHS Child Welfare. This information will then be utilized to re-tool and re-vamp current practices at both agencies. 2CW researchers will then evaluate the extent to which this pilot project met its goals: improved students’ knowledge of DHS Child Welfare, improved student experiences with DHS child welfare and improved satisfaction of DHS workers.
