{"id":2351,"date":"2013-03-04T12:48:22","date_gmt":"2013-03-04T19:48:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/breakingwaves\/?p=2351"},"modified":"2013-03-04T12:51:28","modified_gmt":"2013-03-04T19:51:28","slug":"west-coast-social-science-grants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.blogs.oregonstate.edu\/breakingwaves\/2013\/03\/04\/west-coast-social-science-grants\/","title":{"rendered":"West Coast Sea Grant programs offer social science grant opportunities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sea Grant programs in Oregon, Washington and California are inviting regional research proposals that address topics of social science and human dimensions related to Sea Grant&#8217;s national goals for<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Healthy coasts and oceans<\/li>\n<li>Safe and sustainable fisheries and aquaculture<\/li>\n<li>Resilient coastal communities and economies<\/li>\n<li>Environmental literacy and workforce development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The hope is to attract a wide range of social scientists &#8211; economists, anthropologists, geographers, community planners, political scientists, psychologists, sociologists, learning scientists, historians, communications and decision scientists &#8211;\u00a0 to explore some important aspect of human interaction within coastal and marine ecosystems.<\/p>\n<p>Oregon Sea Grant, Washington Sea Grant, California Sea Grant and University of Southern California Sea Grant have pooled their resources to commit a total of $700,000 (subject to available funds) to support between two and four regional projects for 2014-2016.\u00a0 Projects must be regional in scope and research teams must be made up of investigators from at least two institutions of higher education within the three-state region.<\/p>\n<p>Projects will be selected through an open, competitive, peer-review process.
