Plus other cool stuff having to do with sound. Can you believe it&#8217;s already December?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Okay, so, the holiday season is upon us, and I thought I would do something a little different (mostly because end-of-term has meant I am fed up with reading papers and would rather look at holiday stuff). Today I present to you: a holiday gift guide for your favorite bioacoustician.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Species of interest cookie cutters:\u00a0<\/strong>who doesn&#8217;t love holiday cookies? Better yet, let&#8217;s make holiday cookies in the shapes of bioacoustically relevant species! You&#8217;ve got your suite of marine mammals: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fancyflours.com\/product\/Cookie-Cutter-Seal-Stainless-Steel\/Animal-cookie-cutters\" target=\"_blank\">seals<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fancyflours.com\/product\/dolphin-cookie-cutter\/Animal-cookie-cutters\" target=\"_blank\">dolphins<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cookiecuttercompany.com\/animals\/604-4-inch-whale-cookie-cutter\" target=\"_blank\">whales<\/a>. Let&#8217;s throw in a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cookiecuttercompany.com\/animals\/1035-8-point-75-inch-large-bat-cookie-cutter\" target=\"_blank\">bat<\/a>\u00a0for good measure. And of course, we can&#8217;t forget about my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cookiecuttercompany.com\/animals\/798-4-inch-frog-cookie-cutter\" target=\"_blank\">frogs<\/a>!\u00a0And let&#8217;s put a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fancyflours.com\/product\/Cookie-Cutter-Penguin-Copper\/Animal-cookie-cutters\" target=\"_blank\">penguin<\/a> in there for Michelle.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Audio-Technica-ATH-ANC7B-QuietPoint-Noise-Cancelling-Closed-Back\/dp\/B002HWJT1A\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1389804854&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=audio+technica+ANC7\" target=\"_blank\">Really nice\u00a0noise-canceling headphones<\/a><\/strong>: because we listen to a lot of stuff.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.xtratufboots.com\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Xtratuf boots<\/strong><\/a>: land or sea, it doesn&#8217;t matter&#8211;a good pair of waterproof boots are necessary for any field season, anywhere.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Acoustics-themed art<\/strong>: how about a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bespokenart.com\" target=\"_blank\">print of a waveform<\/a> of something important to your bioacoustician of choice (like frog calls)? No?
