I am going to be entirely honest and say that when I think of non-infectious diseases I do not tend to think of microorganisms having an effect on the disease even if it does not directly cause it. I know that some people have different microorganisms in their body because of the way they live and the way that they are exposed in the environment.

I do however think some things can be affected my microorganisms am just unsure if they actually matter in the long term. Some non-infectious diseases that I can think of are: irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea, Alzheimer’s disease, and obesity. I think irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea could be influenced by microorganisms because the body has normal microorganisms and these could influence how the body reacts and the microorganisms could make the body go into overdrive causing IBS-D to happen. While I do not know if Alzheimer’s disease is influenced by microorganisms I wonder if it is because of how the brain is affected and causes damage to the brain to make you lose memories. I think that microorganisms may influence this disease because it may breakdown barriers to the brain that could allow for bacteria to get in possibly? In obesity I think it could be influenced by microorganisms because it is possible that those who are obese have different microorganisms which affects how their bodies react to foods and how those foods are digested and stored in the body.

I think that I am having a hard time distinguishing what is a non-infectious disease and how many of them there are. I also think that I am having a hard time seeing which diseases may or may not be influenced by microorganisms.
