Student Recognition Banquet 2018

The 2018 Student Recognition Banquet on Wednesday, May 31st, 2018 marked the end on another outstanding year for OSU College of Pharmacy and our students. The evening was abuzz with laughter and lively conversation as the College celebrated the accomplishments of students and faculty. Dominic Chan was recognized as the 2018 Preceptor of the Year and OSU College of Pharmacy’s Lauren Corwin, Academic Advisor, was recognized with the 2018 Outstanding Service Award for her commitment to serving the needs of our students.

Faculty were also recognized by each class as they presented the Professor of the Year award. The P1 Class recognized Dr. Theresa Filtz as the
P1 Professor of the Year.

An Unsung Hero Award is presented to one student from each class, recognizing them for thier hard work and willingness to go above and beyond to assist their fellow student. This year’s Unsung Heroes included:

Lip Sync Competition 
Throughout the evening we enjoyed viewing several student-made lip sync videos. These were submitted by students for their chance to win a $100 cash prize. Additional recognition to the College of Pharmacy Avising Faulty for their special lip sync video submission. The student videos were judged by Paige Clark (’85), Director of Alumni Relations, Penny Reher (’82), Director of Pharmacy at Samaritan Health Services (event sponsors) and Kevin Russell (’93), Pharmacy Manager at Samaritan Health Services. The winning team was P3’s Kate Jansen, Shannon O’Leary, and Gina Lee with their rendition of Coldplay’s “The Scientist”.

Following the banquet a large group of students gathered to celebrate the life of a close friend and fellow student during a candle-lite vigil. Thank you to all who gathered to share stories and happy memories in remembrance of Amjad.
