ASHP Leadership Seminar and Workshop

The OSU College of Pharmacy’s ASHP/OSHP student chapter recently hosted its first annual ASHP Leadership Seminar and Workshop on February 24, 2018. Held in the college’s practice lab, students from the P1, P2, and P3 classes learned about effective styles of leadership and how to employ them in their professional careers. The seminar which focused on providing students with introductory leadership techniques was well suited for the P1 and P2 attendees. The event captivated over thirty-five students creating the need for an additional waitlist for those who still wanted to attend.

Following the seminar, the workshop allowed five groups of students to form a case focused on creating a new pharmacy service while taking into consideration the limitations of logistics and budgets. These five groups went on to present their cases to a diverse audience of fellow students, faculty, and stakeholders within the profession. To conclude the event students were encouraged to direct related questions to a panel of health systems pharmacists.

Thank you to those who played a role in helping to make this event such a huge success including our workshop facilitators: Dr. Amar Patel, Dr. Tara Berkson, Dr. Katie Norton, Dr. Myrna Munar, and Dr. Deanna Mortez. Additional thanks to our event coordinators Dr. Deanna Moretz and P2 students Huy Henry Le, ASHP/OSHP President-Elect and Shannon O’Leary, ASHP/OSHP President.
