Student representative, John White (P2)

On Thursday, October 20, 2016 OSU/OHSU College of Pharmacy hosted a Patient Safety CE event in which faculty members Roberto Linares (’91), and Natalea Suchy spoke to the group about the various student organizations that perform outreach events and their specific roles. They also spoke about the overall organization of the student leadership groups at the College of Pharmacy and included specific tips and suggestions for preceptors on how to best work with students and what to expect when they oversee an outreach event.

Faculty member Shannon Starwalt (’07) spoke about what preceptors in general should expect from P1, P2, P3, and P4 students and how the expectations change as they progress through the program. She went on to speak about some of the Oregon Board of Pharmacy rules that regulate preceptors and interns.
Faculty member Ann Zweber (’95), facilitated the student groups who participated by having their tables setup as if it were an outreach event. The student groups provided information about what they do at outreach events, and some took blood pressure and blood glucose measurements, other tables had informational activities or games. The attendees had to visit at least two tables and interact with the students to get their CE credit.
