Oregon’s Birth Control Prescribing Certification Program Now Available

Comprehensive Contraceptive Education and Training for the Prescribing Pharmacist is now available.
This 5 hour ACPE accredited online course, developed by Oregon State University College of Pharmacy faculty, with guidance from the consultive work group for the State of Oregon and the Oregon Board of Pharmacy, is designed to give pharmacists the tools needed to be confident and successful in starting and continuing self-administered hormonal contraceptives. This certification course encompasses the art of prescribing for the pharmacist.

An estimated 1,200 pharmacists are expected to be certified and prescribing by June 30th, 2016.
OSU College of Pharmacy has established a searchable database for CCOs and payers in Oregon to quickly and easily find NPI#s and verification of pharmacist completion of required certification course.
