Residency Highlight: Christine Boffing (’12)

Christine Boffing (’12), one of our newest graduates, recently wrote to share about her incredible experience in the PGY1 VA Southern Nevada Residency.  In her own words:

“Life has been really great since graduation. I’m in a residency designed perfectly for my interests and passion. The VA Southern Nevada Residency is set up to train us in-depth to work in PACT clinics (diabetes, HTN, and hyperlipidemia management), geriatrics, home-based primary care, and anticoagulation.  I just finished my second 5-week rotation through PACT and was independently running the clinic, acting as the primary care provider to over 100 Veterans, writing prescriptions, ordering and monitoring labs, AND acting as the primary preceptor to a pharmacy student.  It was a huge task and challenged me in a wonderful way.  Fortunately, the preceptor assigned to supervise me during that time was so confident in my ability to manage the PACT workload that he was able to leave the clinic to provide training to clinical pharmacists who were recently hired into the same role.  It has also been great having my former classmate, Tracie Kobayashi, as my co-resident–we’re quite a team!

I know that you’re already very proud of the OSU/OHSU College of Pharmacy, but I just wanted to let you know that we’re all working our behinds off to show the country how capable we are. Especially now post-graduation, I can confidently say that OSU COP is providing an exceptional education and I will be forever grateful.

Thanks for all of your hard work in training and encouraging us to be exceptional health care providers.”
