Furuno et al. received R01 award from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ)

Dr. Jon (JJ) Furuno, associate professor and interim chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice, is the PI of a new 3-year, $1.5 million R01 award from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) to develop an intervention bundle to improve antibiotic prescribing on discharge from hospital to long-term care facilities. This study includes 8 acute care hospitals including OHSU, the entire Legacy Health System, and the University of Wisconsin and 23 nursing homes in Oregon, California, Nevada, and Wisconsin. In additional to PI Dr. Furuno, the OSU-based investigative team includes Drs. Jessina McGregor and David Bearden and Mses. Brie Noble and Caitlin McCracken all from the Department of Pharmacy Practice and national leaders from the University of Wisconsin, OHSU, Legacy Health, Marquis Companies, University of Massachusetts, Portland VA, University of Rochester, and Case Western Reserve University.
