Pharmacy Students Adopt a Fundraiser
for Local Non-Profit
Grace Center for Adult Day Services, a local non-profit organization, held weekly events in November to fundraise for its programs. Elks Club of Corvallis generously contributed its location and “Burgers and Brews” for these events. When Grace Center needed more activities, Oregon State P3 students rose to the occasion by organizing a family-friendly health fair.
Pharmacy students, Rae Barnes (’20), Corinne Anway (’20), Elisabeth Manning (’20), and Victor Rojo (’20) became leaders of the assignment, putting the health fair together and implementing a raffle to raise money for the organization. Pharmacy student organizations, including Operation Diabetes, SNAPhA, Generation Rx, and Operation Heart, came together to provide health screenings and information to the attendees. Collectively, almost $300 was raised for Grace Center from the raffle and burger sales.
The Director of Community Relations of Grace Center, Tera Stegner, praised the pharmacy students’ contributions stating, “Grace Center is thankful for all of the OSU Pharmacy students who dreamed up and carried out the health fair for us. It was wonderful to see community members gathering at the Elks to have a good time, eat good food, and learn something new, all while supporting Grace Center!” |
