A graduate of our program in pharmacology, Jim Stolzenbach, Ph.D. (’84), has dedicated his long career to the pharmaceutical industry, and now leads Jim Stolzenbach Consulting LLC, focused on providing strategic insights for biologic or small molecule global clinical programs. On Thursday, June 7th, 2018, Dr. Stolzenbach visited with the OSU College of Pharmacy faculty and Ph.D. students to discuss and present a seminar on the topic of clinical research strategies for rapid proof of concept and regulatory approval.

After receiving his Ph.D. in Pharmacy/pharmacology from the OSU College of Pharmacy in 1984, Dr. Stolzenbach went to work as a research investigator in drug metabolism for Searle Monsanto until 1994. He then worked in a number of project development roles for the same company until 2003. Over his 30+ year career, Dr. Stolzenbach served in a number of senior leadership roles in big pharma including Pharmacia/Pfizer, Abbott, and finally AbbVie from which he retired as Vice President of Renal and Immunology Development in 2016. When asked about his career Dr. Stolzenbach explained “Throughout the years I have always been driven to figure out how to bring personal satisfaction to the process of drug development for everyone involved and to maximize the contributions of the entire team.” He went on to say that “I have been fortunate to be involved in many global efforts, across multiple therapeutic areas, with both very early and late stage programs.” We are honored to have Dr. Stolzenbach as an alumni of our pharmacology program, thank him for visiting with us, and look forward to welcoming him back to the college for future events.
