State of the University
On Wednesday, February 8th, 2017, Oregon State University President, Edward J. Ray, gave the annual State of the University Address at the Oregon Convention Center. Many were present to hear his powerful words highlighting the achievements of inclusive excellence through teaching, discovery, service to others, and collaboration.

OSU President Edward J. Ray giving the
State of the University Address
President Ray said of Oregon State’s focus for the future, “Since 1868, Oregon State has had one mission: to enrich the lives of all people. As we prepare to celebrate our 150th anniversary as Oregon’s statewide university – you can count on this: Oregon State will continue to serve others while having a meaningful impact throughout Oregon… the nation… and the world.” Of the university’s mission of teach, research and engagement serving the Portland region, he said, “Pharmacy researchers are working in the Collaborative Life Sciences Center in the South Waterfront to develop treatments for cancer. I assure you that when it comes to Oregon State’s involvement in Portland, we will always follow the Oregon way, and collaborate with other educational institutions, business and community partners to do what is best for this region.”

As always, he closed by stating, “Let me assure you that while OSU has served our state well for nearly 150 years, we are not done. Working together, I guarantee you that the best is yet to come.”
