OSU College of Pharmacy’s Dr. Adriane Irwin worked with a three-student team as they participated in American College of Clinical Pharmacy’s (ACCP) inaugural year of the ACCP Clinical Research Challenge (CRC). The team consisted of Peter Atkins (’19), Katie LaRue (’18) and Julia Zhukov (’18). The OSU College of Pharmacy team competed against other pharmacy students from 79 schools nationwide in an online exam on biomedical statistics and literature interpretation. The top 20 teams then moved onto the proposal round, where they created a 10-page grant proposal for implementation of a clinical pharmacy service in the area of cardiology with documentation of outcomes.

The team was awarded first place and as reward, the OSU College of Pharmacy received a team trophy and Peter, Katie, and Julia will each receive a cash prize and an individual championship plaque. Additionally, they have been invited to present their submitted research proposal design as a poster at the 2016 ACCP Annual Meeting this October in Hollywood, Florida.
