On February 4th, 2016 the College of Pharmacy’s Entrepreneurial Academy hosted the fifth annual “Battle of the Beats: A New Spin on Health” event (formerly Breakin’ Down the MU). The first portion of the evening included informational booths, set up entirely by pharmacy students, providing educational insight into several different, important aspects of health. The booths included interactive activities ranging from blood pressure check-ups to a participatory dance video game. Each visit at a booth served as a valuable and fun way to learn about healthy living for all those in attendance.

An exciting element to this year’s event included the musical portion of the evening, contributing to the event’s new title, “Battle of the Beats.” Twelve DJ’s had the opportunity to mix a twelve-minute track in a heated competition to go home with the cash prize. Each event attendee, alongside three esteemed volunteer judges, had the opportunity to vote for who they thought “battled their beats” the best.

Those in attendance enjoyed an exciting night packed with educational insight on the values of healthy living in addition to watching some great DJ’s perform with some friendly competition.

We can log another successful turn-out for this event and look forward to Battling in 2017!
