Pharmacy students getting creative with their designs!

The 2014 OSU Homecoming parade is scheduled for this Thursday, October 30th. This year’s parade starts at 14th Street and Jefferson Avenue at 6:30 pm. The route heads north on 14th, turns left on Madison Avenue, and heads toward Southwest 26th where it takes another left turn and ends in Parker Plaza, in front of the CH2M Hill Alumni Center. A block party is scheduled in Parker Plaza at 7 p.m., about the time the front of the parade should be arriving.

Pharmacy students preparing props for the 2014 Homecoming Parade Float. What could they be making?

For the third year in a row, the College of Pharmacy will be participating in the Homecoming Parade in partnership with Samaritan Health Systems.  This event is one of the first opportunities for our P1 and P2 students to come together and get involved.  The College always tries to design the float around the Homecoming theme decided by the OSU Alumni Association. This year’s theme of “Celebrate this Amazing Place” posed to be a slight challenge in coming up with ideas, but our students have once again come together and used their creativity and ingenuity to build this year’s float.

As Mike McInally from the Gazette-Times says, “the parade also provides the only opportunity you’ll have this year to check out the annual float from the OSU pharmacy program, a perennial parade highlight. Two years ago, the float featured a pair of pharmacy students dressed up as gigantic pill bottles… The students are aiming even higher this year.” Read the full article here.

This is surely an event you won’t want to miss! Make sure to find a seat along the parade route and keep an eye out for this year’s College of Pharmacy float!
