AMS at the Corvallis Farmers’ Market

On Saturday, April 27th, 2019 find members of our student chapter at the Corvallis Farmers’ Market on 1st and Jackson Streets in Downtown Corvallis. We will be at our booth from 9am-1pm running atmospheric science demonstrations and talking with the community about weather, atmospheric science, and our organization.

Tour of KMTR Eugene, OR Weather Broadcast Station

On Friday, March 8th, 2019 members of our chapter toured the KMTR Eugene news and weather broadcast station with Chief Meteorologist Camen Rose, learning about the studio and broadcast meteorology.

NOVA Documentary Decoding the Weather Machine screening  

On January 29, 2019 at 7:00pm our Student Chapter is hosting a screening of the NOVA documentary Decoding the Weather Machine in the MU Ballroom on the OSU Corvallis campus. The film focuses on recent extreme weather events and their relationship to the climate system, as well as climate change mitigation and adaption. Following the documentary will be a Question/Answer panel of local experts and light refreshments. This event will be open to the public and free to attend.

Oregon AMS Winter Weather Forecasting Conference

Members of our Student Chapter attended the 26th annual “Winter Weather Forecasting Conference” Saturday, October 27th, 2018 hosted by the Oregon Chapter of the AMS.  Meteorologists from across the Pacific Northwest will be presenting their predictions for the weather of this coming winter at one of their larger events at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). What lies ahead this winter with the likely return of El Nino? Every Cloud has a Story – AMS at Da Vinci Days

The OSU Student Chapter of the AMS will have an exhibit at Corvallis’ annual arts and science festival, Da Vinci Days, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018. We’ll be talking about the various ways that clouds can form, as well as making our very own cloud in a bottle.
