University supervisors serve as a liaison between the University and cooperating site. The university supervisor should be contacted immediately when a problem or concern arises. In addition, the university supervisor is charged with the following responsibilities:
- Work with the cooperating teacher and student teacher in planning and evaluating the student teaching experience.
- Conduct six observations. Each on-site observation will include a feedback conference to evaluate progress, make constructive recommendations, and provide assistance as needed. Additional site observations will be scheduled if warranted.
- Conduct a one-on-one conference with the student teacher during seminars held on-campus (if necessary).
- Assign student teacher’s final grade, taking into consideration the evaluations and recommendation of the cooperating teacher.
- Serve as a resource person for the student teacher.
